Good Year 2010 The new year begins in New York

Vidéoqualia has been quiet in recent weeks. This is not to be idle. We are preparing a new year very prolific WebVideo information. Is that it moves toward Movemedia , my new podcast project! Vidéoqualia is also preparing a new image (it will be bye bye to Blogger to be on Wordpress).

Movemedia Vidéoqualia and for me are two complementary projects. The first is a review of news from areas of the Moving Image (WebVideo, video games, movies, television), while the second is an analysis tool of creativity WebVideo. Movemedia is centered around an audio podcast, Vidéoqualia will quietly become a creative laboratory, the blog remains the main communication tool. In short, a lot of work cut out for 2010!

I could not let 2009 end without going there a few nice videos. My day's theme: New York! It is I will spend the new year and I put some bulk on Vimeo videos gleaned that evoke the spirit of the city. For those who liked to be, you can follow live on the livestream New Year celebrations.

Happy New Year 2010!

Every time I see a music video that tantalizes my senses, visual and auditory memory takes me back to my opinion one of my professors of cinema. His name was Brady surname. I forgot the name. It was an excellent teacher but whose views on the music video still leaves me perplexed. According to him, the music video was a promotional tool, a low advertising without artistic merit.

He may have changed his mind since. That was before the emergence of the Internet, in time when the music video not found its place within the limits of 2-3 specialized networks before Vimeo, before the Yukon what! Yet he had Devo ...

will not! Make your games, do your BA

That video output 60 bloggers Quebec for climate justice, which I participated. If I look like a scarecrow is that I was sick that night! Worse is also, I found little point in me playing with a smile colgate in context. Looks like I'm the only ...

Pretty graphic presentations and interesting soundscape, although I agree with those who have a slight seasick watching it.

The intention is always the same: to educate and react more. Is it going to work? Already, are we going to reach the greatest number? In view of the nose, despite the roster of the best bloggers in Quebec, I fear that the viral effect is not at the rendezvous. BA could lift the side but I feel that people are getting tired of the moral ecology. The failure of environmental policy-flavored shows.

The problem with apocalyptic messages, whatever they are - the realistic one scientific point of view as esoteric delusions - that they are not taken very seriously as there is no catastrophe. Worse in general, there's too late ...

Still it was an honor to have participated in this initiative in the company of all these people of great talent. And despite my skepticism, I believe that the only option left to try! Viral Video Award Berlin - The winners are ... 3

To end my series on Viral Videos Awards Short Film Festival Berlin, I present you the winners.

Award:

Du bist Terrorist (You Are a Terrorist) English subtitles from alexanderlehmann we Vimeo.

I agree with the public. This movie has a great viral potential. Anyway, on viral wisdom of the crowd bonus! With more than 800,000 views in its German version, it has been proven. The target market has enjoyed and shared.

The Jury Prize:

Unfortunately my German is not good enough to give my personal opinion. Apparently it's funny. As you think if you master the language of Goethe.

Finally, mention in this video that I did not really like: "To a friend". I suspect the jury not to have put a priority on the potential of viral video because seriously, she would not receive a mention for this award. Damage.

I give you my personal winner in the selection of the festival, which I think demonstrates a true mastery of the viral effect:

You've probably already seen ... exactly!

Wendigo # 1 # 2: A classic fantasy German WILLY SEIDEL

While translations of the Wendigo # 1 begin to get well, conditions are being met for publication in the # 2 of a German novel, "Das Ding Älteste of Welt" ("The oldest thing in the world") Willy Seidel (1887 -1934), published in 1923. This novella was then integrated collection of Die Latern Magische Zinkeisen Herrn ("The Magic Lantern Zinkeisen the lord", 1930) which has just been reissued in Germany by Atlantis Verlag.

(Photo by Willy Seidel, probably in the 1910s)

The novella Willy Seidel, an original variation on a theme close to that of "The Colour Out of Space" HP Lovecraft, which is later (1927), is considered a classic of its kind in Germany. After the novels, rather turned to the exotic tales and bad sides of colonialism, Willy Seidel has worked in the 1920s to build a fantastic work, including new forms, which helped save his name from oblivion.

This news was reported by Jean-Pierre Laigle, which will make the presentation in the journal, and will be translated by Jean-Michel Archimbault. Thank you to them.

Jailbreak Internet On Sidekick 08

viral videos - good, bad and good

I continue in my analysis of videos of Viral Video Award .

Iran: A Nation of Bloggers

This video taken by Rocketboom - specialists viral on the Internet, read all codes of good viral content. The message is simple, presenting original and very culturally oriented content. She has not had the deserved success mainly because of its finals. Rather than the generic would have required an invitation to share the video. WebVideo in the generic that is featured on a website - which also should be the only element to the end of the video.

getup! - Censor This? Censordyne - Internet Censorship

The gag is easy, treatment not very original. The audience was regional - Australian - and yet we did not feel that this video as it touches the heartstrings of people in this country. Its creators have not clearly identified the reasons for its target audience. They did not create a trigger to raise the share. I am quite surprised that video too weak in its performance virus was selected.

The Vendor Customer relationship - in real world situations

Here, we aimed at freelancers and they liked it very much, very much. Narrative processing is reminiscent of Ricky Gervais. We are in the era of time. It surfs the codes of modern humor. Note the boldness of the final remains open. The message is decoded in the absurdity of persistent scenarios without any resolution. It's very rare for the short video that often culminates in the fall via a gag or surprise. The viral effect works. One wants to share its network as if to say: "You see what it !!!".

Pick A Master Lock Backpack Lock

Viral Video Award Berlin - To A Friend vs. Chemical Party

Within 2 weeks to come, I propose a special Viral Video Award. I will present some of the videos that are nominated for the prize with my analysis. I will comment especially the potential of each of these viral videos. The Viral Video Award is an associated event at the 25th International Short Film Festival Berlin.

Note a characteristic: they are eligible for the festival that the viral videos that promote an idea, product, brand ("It Must Either ENDORSE Something between gold and / or a message communiquer "). In short, exit the video of the little cat that sings or the staging of the individual grotesque.

I start my selection "To a Friend":

I think this video is not copy a good viral video (not to be confused with a good video). I would be surprised to see her win a prize. It has been online for more than six months without having passed the 10 000 viewings.

The message is unclear. The application of protest only appears at the end of the video. Fort is to bet we will have lost a majority of'internautes who believed themselves to a public health campaign. In short, no suspension leads to rant against the Pope.

is typically a video licked too reminiscent of traditional television advertising. The danger is that the unconscious association made this style. Nobody likes the idea of sharing advertising to friends. The only exception to this rule is the gag. An advertisement in classic can operate successfully if it is very funny but this is not the case with this one.

Another huge problem with this video: the name. It is very difficult to find. Try "To a friend" into Google, a lot of hit, but not the good.

Finally, it is neither very original nor very significant. A nice video that misses its viral effect and did not thrust required to spread.

The second video I am proposing today is "Chemical Party ":

Much better. There is a viral effect in action:
  • seen by over 325,000 on YouTube.
  • it exists in several versions
  • it was taken by other secondary sites
The message is clear and presented in a fun way. The treatment portion of the conventional television advertising. The name is original enough to make the video easy to find.

If it has not reached peaks - the magic number is 1 million - I would say potentially because of its complexity. To go there a bit simpler would have helped. It's not easy for the user to decide who will benefit from this video. Who wants a short refresh chemistry fun? Or who find the treatment sufficiently original to appreciate the video beyond its message? Ultimately this video

friendly finds himself confined to a niche not particularly large.

What Is Accutron Vs Bulova

One idea for financing the WebVideo

If there is one recurring theme in the field of WebVideo, it is the funding issue. I would say that sometimes it comes to evacuate the real question: how good WebVideo. Still, for those who have already taken advantage of investing time and sweat in WebVideo a draft, the funding issue is not about virtual.

In these days, I lean more towards a business model focused on video on demand. The culture of free and piracy no interest really a sub-category of the population: the half-geek who has time to lose. The majority are willing to pay above all not to waste time searching the content it wants to see.

However, as the context of other models can be interesting (and of course the long term, they are blended solutions that will emerge).

Today Christian Aubry and Martin Ouellet us propose an alternative web of patronage for the costs of producing a video:

This method seems a utopian WebVideo which would have cost in the millions of dollars. Such a creation would be the result of several stakeholders reluctant to release the rights of the work. By cons, Christian and Martin proposes a model that seems particularly attractive to smaller producers.

I would add my two cents to the idea. We could find a lead investor who would undertake to give one dollar for each dollar raised. Why? It is psychological, my dear Watson. The donor's gift doubled light has a strong incentive to give more. The lead investor in turn takes the spotlight. He was given a 5 seconds pre-roll to display its logo.

remain to build an interface that facilitates this process. Volunteers?

Ballroom Decoration Ideas

And if we Twitter this. ..

For fans of Twitter, a video that introduced me to Daniel. You'll laugh ...

Many of you do not understand the obsession with Twitter. I have always the same comments: "I not understand, I made an account and I'll do more ... "We often disagree Facebook to Twitter, as if it was only a vague copy.

Explain Twitter is difficult . It is a matter of practice. It's a bit like describing the effect of marijuana to those who have never inhaled ... We must live the experience Twitter to feel good all its potential.

For WebVideo, Twitter is terribly strong. This is the perfect place to launch a viral campaign. The propagation is instantaneous. It is also the place to generate buzz around a webcast. This is the best way promote his vlog. It is a place to share your passion with your community. Your community is on Twitter. Just find it.

Those who build their community or those who join communities of interest on Twitter have a major strategic advantage. In the long term, Twitter will remain - it will become, perhaps, but the basic principle will remain. That's why it's important for anyone seeking to communicate a message of good grasp of dynamics.

For lovers of numbers, I recommend this article that sums up the situation in the United States. Its penetration into the blogosphere, Twitter has become a main ingredient of communication Internet.

Gameshark For Pokemon White

Short film, a parasite of the Web? For a creative space

I came across this on Twitter. This is increasingly the case, one comes across a short film via Twitter or Facebook.

I enjoyed a treat this film with a voyeuristic pleasure for this old fool no intentions of his great-grand-son. Who would want him in the back small son to choose a subject so crisp and crackling that is this old? He is right. Me my grandmother is half deaf and dumb poor memory lost in waiting for death in a CHCLD ... There's not enough to make a movie, horror movie, perhaps. (I'm very sad, believe me.)

There are many who praise the shorts found on the web. It is certain that the web is short but is it the reverse is true? That is, if the short has the wind in their sails since he found a channel of distribution via the Internet, is he involved himself in the web culture? Is it not a form of parasite? What a strange idea that I bring here. I invite you to think anyway. Because even if I like this movie, as it annoys me too classic. In an era of new wave, symphonic orchestration sounded fake.

Yeah, I stand by it. There is a narrative WebVideo to develop and we're not there yet. We must evolve the medium of webcasting, the medium of web design.

However, for the sensitivities to criticism, I loved this film, in its classic form, very good, very good as cheese and wine and all those other things traditional.

Wendigo # 1: new DO loop Marrama and summary!

Latest news selected for this first issue of Wendigo, "The Medallion" ("It Medaglione") of the Italian author Daniele Marrama Oberto (1874-1911).

Initially published in his collection It ritratto del morto: tells Bizarri a book published in F. Perrella in Naples in 1907 and very difficult to find, this wonderful news was translated by Rene Lecuyer in the issue of July 8 1928 of the Sunday newspaper Illustrated. is this translation, after checking with the original text and a few small adjustments, which will be repeated here.

Another new OD Marrama, from the same collection, "Dr. Black" ("Il Dottore nero") was translated in 1932 in The International Journal apparently in March. I am taking a copy of that translation (and accurate references ...). This vampire story was repeated in at least three anthologies in Italy over the last twenty years, including the famous and huge (Over 1000 pages!) Storie di vampiri held by Gianni Pilo Sebastiano Fusco and Ed Newton in 1994 and recently reissued in 2008 ...

To my knowledge, ritratto del morto It is the only fantasy book of the author died 37 years ago and who was a lawyer, journalist committed against the monarchy, polemicist, and critic of art and theater ...

A big thank you to Charles Moreau and Ernesto Vegetti, the main cause of the famous Catalogo Sf, Fantasy e Horror ( http://www.fantascienza.com/catalogo/ ), the site for bibliographic Italian Excellence net for their help.

Wendigo # 1: a new novel by VICTOR ROUSSEAU

The composition of the contents of Wendigo # 1 comes to an end ...!

Last Author Anglo-Saxon to be programmed for this first delivery, Victor Rousseau Wharf unknown in France despite a faceted work and going from best to worst, all in the great tradition of pulp fiction authors such as we cherish them eventually ...

Life of Victor Rousseau, whose real name Victor Rousseau Emanuel (1879 - 1960, UK and USA) is itself a rather mysterious and only the relentless search of the American Morgan Wallace helped to unravel a much and to establish that the career of Victor Rousseau (aka HM Egbert, Lew Merrill, Clive Trent, George Munson and Victor R. Emanuel) was, before 1930, quite different from that thought, he was such a precursor such as "Occult Detectives" with a first set of new dating back to 1909 and published in U.S. newspapers that we had thought, until discovered by Morgan Wallace wrote for Weird Tales only in 1926 and 1927 when it was just a disguised re ... He was also the author of a classic SF pre-war The Messiah Of The Cylinder published in the USA in 1917.

(the only picture ever published of Victor Rousseau
in
Argosy, March 1931)

The translations into French of Victor Rousseau are almost nonexistent: a short adventure novel fantastic edition semi-pro ( Balamok The Eye, The Eye of Balamok, in All-Story Weekly , USA, 1920, Ed. Antares, 1991, coll. "Gold of Time "# 1, trans. Moumon JP), a long fantastic story in the anthology 13 stories of witchcraft in Andre Gerard Marabout in 1975 ("When shall ensure the dead gods," "When Dead Gods Wake in Strange Tales of Mystery and Terror, November 1931. USA, a detective story in the magazine's # 1 Quebec My Roman Policier ( "The hand of the corpse," February 1941 "The Crooked Finger", USA 1917) and 3 new non-fantasy about life in a town along the St. Lawrence in the monthly journal La Canadienne Quebec in 1920 and 1921 , original in The Blue Book Magazine , USA, 1914 and 1915.

Victor Rousseau part of authors that I intend to "follow" in Wendigo, I have long hesitated about first novel to be translated, finally opting for an independent history (not bound to its three series of 'Detectives »...) occult and dating from the beginning of his career: "Jackson's Wife" in The Smart Set , USA, May 1909. This text extremely rare and unknown even to many specialists Anglo-Saxon was communicated to me by Wallace Morgan.

Speaking of Morgan, he will take care of the blurb from the news. Morgan also does much more than unknown search for publications by Victor Rousseau since published under the label The Spectrum Library three superb books connected with his jacket and fired at 200 ex. : The Surgeon of Souls (fantastic book, 2006, print), The Tracer of Egos (fantastic book, 2007) Flesh and The Devil (SF novel / thriller, 2008). The site of The Spectre Library: http://www.spectrelibrary.com

To buy an ex. (Including postage ) The Eye of Balamok , which is not exhausted, send a check for 9 Euros payable to "Antares", 19 rue Thiers, 83590 GONFARON.

What Is The Best Expert Advisor Metastock

All these motivators

Inspired? Inspiring? The WebVideo

offer them on a silver platter: motivators. They will communicate a sense of ultimate power in a few sentences tasty. They will simply, with a list of do and not do to become. Become short. Because that's what it question. Not to be. Not happiness. No, the passage of a state x to state y is the upward social mobility is at stake

I caught the following video on Twitter (@ Provokat who also hesitated about the value of the speech). Overall impression: ever heard.

Message condensed into 10 minutes. Usual phrases Cutes shocked: "If you want to learn about lions in the jungle not go to the zoo." Contempt of conformism to invite to the path less traveled. All that magically, with an air of "just do it fuckers".

Not that I do not like motivators. I can not stop sharing it Guy Kawasaki as the good news. I also recommend highly to anyone looking to build something to read "Tribes" by Seth Godin which I am assiduously blog.

What makes me annoyed to be today? The sensation of wind. The motivation is to move much air, and this may be everything. It becomes a comfort in itself. It suddenly feels invincible, it is believed to touch the recipe for success. It's like dreaming of millions by buying a lottery ticket.

"Becoming" is mainly through the barrier of a suffering. I dare say, must still have the strength. That we forget to talk about. It lacks a side of the coin: military training, the sleepless nights, hard times, the discomfort, errors, etc..

One of the greatest qualities of the Internet would offer us the opportunity to do "great things" for yourself (assuming being a blogger is a great thing ... for example). What we are talking very little, the anxiety status. This constant pressure that people "become". There's a philosopher who has laid an book about it. A must read before questioning the length and width. (I liked the documentary discover in this book. If you seek you shall find ...)

Indulge yourself pleasure. Inspiration, motivation is good. Just be prepared to suffer for an omelette that is knowing without breaking eggs never forget that we can eat something else too. In short, everyone's happy!

San Francisco Cruise Spots

# 1: a novel of Achmed Abdullah

Information that will not surprise those who know me, Achmed Abdullah will be the summary of the Wendigo # 1 with "Fear" (in Detective Story Magazine 3 February 1919) A short story typical of his production and mixing exotic lived adventure, all with a touch of fantasy and a touch of horror. But this time the author takes us away from Chinese and Muslim world that made his reputation on an expedition gone awry in the depths of Africa (translated by Rémy new Lechevalier.) Other unpublished follow him.

(Achmed Abdullah, probably in the 1920s ...
and with a little air at the Jacques Bergier ...)

Born in Crimea in 1881 and son of an aristocrat Russian and princess Afghan Achmed Abdullah was an adventurer and a spy to life impression of legend and mystery before its installation in the U.S. during the 1910s and the beginning of a prolific and brilliant career in the major pulp magazines, newspapers and magazines "chic" that ended with his death in 1945 following heart problems. It also left many books behind him and touched about the film: he was also nominated for an Oscar for best screenplay in 1935 as co-author of the Bengal Lancers Three with Gary Henry Hathaway Cooper.

Brown Discharge On The Day When Period Is Due

Wendigo # 2: a novel of RICHARD MARSH

While running a journal is to work on at least two numbers at a time to balance summary and does not move forward without visibility ...

No wonder then that I already have a good idea of the contents of # 2 and I'm pretty sure the theme of its "Folder" (which will be soon).

Meanwhile, I can now announce the presence of an unpublished English Richard Marsh (1857-1915), a horribly delightful story called "An Illustration of Modern Science" (Pall Mall Magazine , UK November 1896 ) selected, translated and presented by Jean-Daniel Brèque.

Richard Marsh, Jean-Daniel and I have already met our respective paths to the publication in 1987 in New (Then with Joelle Losfeld in 1997 and 2006) of his novel The Beetle (1897), one of the major works of the great Victorian who, at the time, was a best-selling edition, competing favorably Dracula Bram Stoker published that year.

and Wendigo, as part of his modest "policy of authors" will not stop there with Richard Marsh ...

What Does Beginning Of Measles Looks Like?

Wendigo # 1: WEIRD TALES SEABURY QUINN before!

We do not know much, but before entering in 1923 in Weird Tales (which became the principal author with 160 texts until 1954), Seabury Quinn was published in two time in magazine ...

The first was the number 1 May 1919 The Thrill Book, the ancestor of all the pulp magazines specializing in the supernatural and the bizarre. Without a true editorial policy and especially of a proper distribution, The Thrill Book lasted only 16 issues, from March 1 to October 15, 1919. Today is one of the pulps that are more rare.

.
(Black River Publishing, Super pocket # 28, 1996)

is the first new promising, "The Stone Image," which will be the summary of Wendigo # 1. If it does not belong to the series of surveys of Jules de Grandin is renowned Seabury Quinn (1889-1969) failing to be what he has written the best, "The Stone Image" does, however, a Dr. Towbridge scene. And wink prescient, it was published originally signed ... Seabury Grandin Quinn! The translation will be provided by Albert Aribaud.

Answer: Because we loved and we want to look at the work again in higher quality.

Business Model: Allow drag extracts, poor quality versions on youtube. Give reasonable price to upgrade quality.

Idea of the Week: Creating the Claw "WebVideo autentic"

There are so many stolen television content on YouTube and other video sharing sites that the real freaks webcasts are sometimes fooled by an interview made for television. For example, I had doubts when I saw the front page of youtube a video Quentin Tarantino selling his favorite movies since 1992. Hmm, Tarentino who plays on the channel on youtbue WOODDDDDDDYAMOVIES2 ... Ladle. Obviously, we quickly found that the trick is not authentically web but rather serves Sky Movie, a TV channel ... To avoid confusion, I move the claw pure WebVideo. The creators could apply in their work to indicate that they were created for the web. It would also facilitate the work of those who do not want to broadcast on their blog byproducts television.

Studless And Studable Tires

Summary # 1: PHILIP M. FISHER, Jr.

Contents First Appearance of Wendigo, an author totally unknown in France, Philip M. Fisher, Jr., but did at the turn of the 1920s, the heyday of "different stories" so dear to Bob Davis at the helm of the magazine American channel Munsey.

Philip M. Fisher, Jr. (1891-1973) was rather specialized in stories mixing Marine Fantasy and SF but with treatment original theme of Invisible Man ("The Strange Case of Lemuel Jenkins" in All-Story Weekly of July 26, 1919) I hope he will make a noticeable entry in Wendigo.

(The number of 26 July 1919 All-Story Weekly )

The news will be translated by Martine Blond which was instantly given (as other former "fellow travelers" of the 1980s ...) to resume volunteer service on behalf of the Cause.

Indian All Big Breast

Will he Wendigo in SF?

As it has been many times I get asked the question, put as much now about things straight: yes, there will be texts that provided SF 'they are not in the register "hard-SF" and they have significant fantasy elements and / or horror. After all, this was the case of a large part related SF stories published until the pulps as specialized Amazing Stories and his successors in the 1930s are shaping American science fiction as a genre defined with relatively precise rules.

Reissue to 750 ex. numbered in 1978 the famous "round robin" SF / Fantasy
published in 1935 Fantasy Magazine (USA) in September 1935. Ex # 233.

So little chance to read for example of Space Opera Wendigo will be, to make a comparison distinctly American, more under the sign of Weird Tales, Argosy or Adventure than under that of Astounding ... But other issues closely associated with science fiction like the invasion from elsewhere when it is treated as was done in Lovecraft "The Colour Out of Space", and not big shot death rays and spacecraft, will be quite a place in the magazine. Same thing for the planet Mars when it is "perfect" on Edgar Rice Burroughs or the lost civilizations of the Lost Race novels, etc..

Wendigo # 1: folder MORGAN ROBERTSON

(Morgan Robertson in 1897)

The record of the first issue of Wendigo will be devoted to the American Morgan Robertson remained famous in history for having "prophesied" in a novel in 1898 against the tragedy of the sinking of an iceberg TITANIC, 14 years before launching the boat, so many years before even the idea of building this boat had germinated in the minds of policymakers the White Star ... And when we know that the ship designed by Morgan Robertson called the ... TITAN and its technical characteristics were almost identical to those of TITANIC, it's reasonable to ask questions ...

Unjustly forgotten, Morgan Robertson (1861-1915) was a U.S. Marine of the great writers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Among his work mainly consisted of short stories published in major newspapers of the time to be reunited for the best of them in several collections, many stories are fantasy or horror unknown in French. William Hope Hodgson as he was a professional sailor before becoming a writer for New York and make friends with Joseph Conrad, Robert W. Chambers, Irvin S. Cobb and many others ...

I had the great pleasure of Morgan Robertson one of the two heroes of my comics fantastic album Titanic designed by the talented Patrick A. Dumas and published in April 2009 published by Sun series "Secret Land"

In the present circumstances, the record will include Morgan Robertson at least a new fantasy novel, an article by Yves Lignon the links between Robertson and parapsychology (particularly in history the "premonition" TITAN / TITANIC) and a bio-bibliography consistently concocted by yours truly.

Robert Barr (1849 - 1912)

These "Purification," a story of pure horror of Robert Barr (UK, 1896, in Twilight 6, 1983) and the fantastic news of George Griffith "The fate of the Flying Dutchman" (UK, 1894, originally under the pseudonym Levin Carnac, in Thriller # 9, 1983), both translated at the time by yours truly.
